Christmas in Bethlehem

Approximately 2,000 years ago this time of year, the world as humanity knew it would forever change. On one cold unsuspecting winter night, the savior of the world was born, bringing with Him good news of peace and salvation for all mankind. He came to the city of Bethlehem, one of the smallest and most humble in the hill country of Judea. The city still exists to this day in modern Palestine. Its permanence is a reminder of the constancy of the salvation message and the transcendence of God’s plan for humanity beyond time and place.

While the birthplace of Christ is arguably the most special place to observe Christmas, there are many families in Bethlehem, Palestine, who cannot afford the basic necessities required to celebrate with their loved ones. Unheard Cries has identified 55 families in Bethlehem who cannot afford dinner due to poverty. These families are struggling with food insecurity and are in dire need of a reliable food supply both to celebrate the coming feast day, and to have enough for the harsh winter days ahead. With the help of Palestinian on-ground representatives, Unheard Cries is collecting donations to create baskets of non-perishable food items for each of the 55 families identified. Each basket will include rice, flour, salt, sugar, garbanzo beans, cooking oil, lentils, tuna, and yogurt. The food items are culturally appropriate for Palestinian families, and will serve to alleviate their existing burden of finding enough food to eat. Each basket will cost $100 with the aim of containing enough food items to last these families through most of the harsh winter season.

With your generous donations, we will be able to provide these families with the food they need to feed their loved ones and celebrate this special season. Please help us provide hope to the citizens of the city where the Hope of the world was first revealed.
